Bezatal, the Beginning

BEZALEEL, BEZATAL’s sire, was straight Babson, going back to the Egyptian horses that Henry Babson imported in 1932-*MAAROUFA, *FADL, *BINT SERRA I-and *ALDEBAR who was imported from the UK in 1940. Comments on *FADL-“The grey stallion *FADL …was a handsome horse with a somewhat shorter head than most of the mares of the importation…*FADL, like many others of the Babson horses, was trained with versatility in view, in his case as a polo pony, and also a competitor in a hundred-mile endurance ride.” BEZALEEL was bred by Henry Babson himself.

“The Babson horses have made a great contribution to American Arabians, both through the Egyptian and Polish importations, but the English stallions have done well too. These horses were not the cream puff, pudgy, stall-fed do-nothings, but were worked at some phase of performance, including polo, jumping, and trail (endurance) rides as well as the usual horse show events”.

BEZALEEL was said to be the first Pacific Slope Champion stallion and was noted for his using disposition.

TALATTASH

Thomas Bowles, owner of BEZALEEL took his best mare and bred her to ZIYADI. ZIYADI was very fast and undefeated on the track in exhibition and show races as well as being a working ranch horse. He was by H.H. Reese’s ALLA AMAWARD who also had several speedy relatives. That white/light colored  mane still comes through today. TALATTASH also has a line to GULASTRA, grand sire of Linda Tellington’s mare BINT GULIDA.
